MEDICA is not a dental-only fair, but it has a strong offer of dental instruments, consumables and equipment. For dental distributors, it is a good place to compare instrument makers from Pakistan, Germany and Asia in one trip.
What dental products you will find
- Extraction forceps and elevators
- Scalers, curettes and periodontal instruments
- Mirrors, probes and explorers
- Restorative instruments: pluggers, carvers and spatulas
- Orthodontic pliers and cutters
- Implant and surgical kits
- Dental disposables
What to check in dental instruments
- Forceps beaks: They should meet evenly and grip without slipping.
- Scaler and curette tips: Sharp, symmetrical and properly hardened.
- Handles: Comfortable, balanced and easy to clean. Hollow handles should be sealed.
- Orthodontic pliers: Smooth joints and tight, aligned tips. Tungsten carbide inserts last longer.
- Markings: Pattern number and maker clearly etched.
Questions to ask a dental instrument maker
- Which patterns do you make, and can you follow my pattern list?
- Are your scalers and curettes hardened to a stated range?
- Do you offer colour-coded or silicone handles?
- Can you make cassettes or kits?
- What documents do you have for my market (CE, FDA)?
MEDICA and IDS
Dental buyers often also visit IDS in Cologne, the large dental fair held every two years. MEDICA is held every year, so it is a good chance to meet suppliers in the years between.
Dental instruments from Tata Surgical
Tata Surgical makes dental and orthodontic instruments alongside our surgical range. See them at Hall 10, Stand C32, or send us your pattern list before the fair.
