MEDICA is a business-to-business fair, so you usually cannot buy products to take home. Instead, you meet suppliers, see samples, agree terms and place orders after the fair. Some suppliers will sell you a small number of samples at the stand, but this varies.
What happens at the stand
- You see and handle the products.
- You discuss your needs: items, quantities, branding and packaging.
- The supplier notes your requirements and promises a quotation.
- Sometimes you agree prices and terms on the spot.
Samples
Most manufacturers will send samples after the fair. Some charge for samples and courier costs, and refund the cost on your first order. A few bring extra stock to sell or give as samples at the stand. Ask early in the fair, as stand samples run out.
Quotations
A good quotation should state:
- Item codes, descriptions and sizes
- Unit price and currency
- Minimum order quantity
- Delivery terms, such as FOB or CIF (see Payment terms and Incoterms explained for medical importers)
- Payment terms
- Lead time
- Validity of the offer
Can you place an order at the fair?
Yes, some buyers sign orders at MEDICA, especially with suppliers they already know. For a new supplier, it is wiser to test samples first and then start with a trial order.
Minimum order quantities
Minimum quantities differ by product and by supplier. Standard instruments often have low minimums. Private label and custom items usually need larger quantities, because of laser marking, packaging and tooling.
