The venue
Messe Düsseldorf is one of the largest exhibition centres in the world. It sits in the north of Düsseldorf, between the city centre and the airport. MEDICA fills most of its halls, so expect to walk a lot.
The grounds have several entrances. The North Entrance (Eingang Nord) is closest to the U78 underground stop. The South Entrance (Eingang Süd) is useful if you are visiting the lower-numbered halls.
Which day should you visit?
- Monday: Busy, with lots of energy. Good for big launches and press events.
- Tuesday and Wednesday: The peak days. Book meetings early.
- Thursday: Quieter and shorter. Exhibitors have more time to talk, but some begin packing up after lunch.
If you can only come for one day, Tuesday or Wednesday gives you the most to see. If you want long conversations with suppliers, Thursday morning works well.
Tips for planning
- Arrive before 10:00. Queues at the entrances are longest in the first hour.
- Plan by hall. Walking from one end of the grounds to the other takes 15 minutes or more.
- Keep Thursday afternoon free for follow-up meetings, as the halls close early.
