The easiest way to reach MEDICA is the U78 underground line from Düsseldorf main station (Hauptbahnhof). It takes about 15 minutes and stops right at the North Entrance. Remember that your MEDICA ticket does not include public transport, so buy a separate ticket.
From Düsseldorf main station
- U78 to “Merkur Spiel-Arena/Messe Nord”: about 15 minutes. Trains run very often during the fair.
- U79 to “Messe Ost/Stockumer Kirchstraße”: also about 15 minutes, a good choice for the eastern halls.
Both lines also stop in the old town (Heinrich-Heine-Allee), which is useful if your hotel is there.
From Düsseldorf Airport
The airport is only a few kilometres from the fairground.
- Taxi: About 10 to 15 minutes. Messe Düsseldorf has listed a flat fare of €25 between the airport and the exhibition entrances in past years. Check the current rate at the taxi rank.
- Shuttle bus: Rheinbahn usually runs an extra airport shuttle bus (line 896) during major fairs.
- Train and underground: Take a train from the airport station to the main station, then the U78.
From other airports
Many visitors fly into Cologne/Bonn, Frankfurt or Amsterdam. From Frankfurt, an ICE train to Düsseldorf takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. From Amsterdam, it takes about 2.5 hours. Book early, as November trains fill up.
By car
The fairground is near the A44 and A52 motorways. There are large car parks around the grounds, with shuttle buses to the entrances. Traffic is heavy in the mornings, so leave early.
Public transport tickets
Buy a day ticket or a multi-day ticket from a Rheinbahn machine or app. The Deutsche Bahn app also sells local tickets. A day ticket is usually cheaper than two single tickets.
