Most of the value of MEDICA comes in the weeks after the fair. Suppliers meet hundreds of people, so the buyers who follow up quickly and clearly get the best attention. Aim to send every follow-up within seven days.
Day 1 after the fair: sort your contacts
Go through your business cards and notes. Put each supplier in one of three groups:
- A: Strong fit. Request samples and a quotation now.
- B: Possible fit. Ask for a catalogue and price list.
- C: Not a fit for now. Keep the contact for later.
Week 1: send your follow-ups
For each A supplier, send one clear email with:
- Where you met (“at your MEDICA stand on Tuesday”)
- The products you want, with item codes, sizes and quantities
- Your target delivery date and destination
- A request for samples and a quotation with clear terms
Weeks 2 to 6: samples and testing
- Test samples with your quality team or surgeons.
- Compare quotations on the same basis: price, terms, lead time and minimum order.
- Ask follow-up questions in writing, so you have a record.
Weeks 6 to 10: first order
- Start with a trial order to test quality and delivery.
- Agree inspection before shipping.
- Review the first delivery before you commit to larger orders.
