A trip to MEDICA does not have to cost a fortune. The biggest savings come from booking early, getting a free ticket and staying outside the city centre.
1. Get a free ticket
Ask the exhibitors you plan to meet for a free voucher code. Many suppliers are happy to send one. If you do buy a ticket, buy online: it is cheaper than at the entrance.
2. Book your hotel now
Hotel prices rise as the fair gets closer. Book a refundable room as early as possible. Look at Duisburg, Neuss, Krefeld, Essen or Cologne, which are 15 to 45 minutes away by train.
3. Share accommodation
If you travel with colleagues, an apartment is often cheaper than several hotel rooms.
4. Fly smart
Compare flights to Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Frankfurt and Amsterdam. Add the train fare before you decide.
5. Use public transport
A day ticket on the Rheinbahn network costs far less than taxis. The U78 runs from the main station to the fair in about 15 minutes.
6. Plan your days
If your goals are clear, two days may be enough. Tuesday and Wednesday are the best value.
7. Save on food
Food in the halls is expensive. Bring water and snacks, and eat dinner in the old town or near the main station, where prices are lower.
