Good quality control protects your reputation with hospitals and clinics. The key steps are testing samples, agreeing standards in writing and inspecting before shipping.
1. Test samples
Before your first order, test samples with surgeons, dentists or your quality team. Check finish, function, markings and packaging.
2. Agree a written standard
Put the quality standard in your purchase order:
- Steel grade and hardness
- Finish (satin or mirror)
- Markings and labelling
- Packaging
- Acceptable defects
3. Approve a golden sample
Keep one approved sample of each product. Future orders are judged against it.
4. Pre-shipment inspection
Before goods leave the factory, an inspection checks a random sample of each product. You can use the supplier’s own report, your own inspector or a third-party inspection company.
What is AQL?
AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) is a standard way of choosing how many items to inspect and how many defects are acceptable. For medical instruments, buyers often choose a strict AQL level for major defects.
5. Inspect on arrival
Check a sample of each delivery in Mexico and report problems quickly, with photos.
